The written version of the report:
The graphs provide information on the volume of seafood imports by the United States between the years 1986 and 2016 with a prediction for 2026, and also illustrate from which countries the seafood was imported in 2016. Overall, seafood imports tripled over the twenty-year period. In the future, however, import levels are estimated to decrease.
In addition, China exported the highest percentage of seafood in 2016 to the USA. As shown in the bar graph, the US seafood imports increased from about $6 billion in 1986 to over $10 billion in 1996. Over the following twenty years, that amount doubled and reached exactly $20 billion in 2016. Despite the past growth, it is predicted that the trend will change, and in 2026 the United States will receive approximately $2 billion less seafood products from abroad than it did in 2016.
Turning to the pie chart for US seafood imports, the three market-dominating countries in 2016 were China, Thailand and Canada, which respectively exported 28%, 23%, and 16% of the seafood. Also, 11% of the total annual seafood of the US in this year was exported from Indonesia, and there was 8% each from Vietnam and Ecuador. However, other unspecified countries accounted for the lowest proportion of 6% of US seafood export in 2016.
