Practice using the official IELTS writing test paper. This is the same paper that is used in your test. You can download these here:

Reasons to use this paper:
- GET USED TO USING IT
By practising with this paper before your actual test you will be able to get used to the size of the paper and the size of the lines you have to write your sentences on. This will ensure that you can write clearly and legibly on the paper.
- ESTIMATE YOUR WORD COUNT
To avoid a penalty you must write 150 words for task one and 250 words for task two. During the test, you don’t have time to count the number of words you have written so you want to be able to quickly estimate it. You can do this by working out how many words per line you write and then multiplying this by the number of lines you have written, as follows:
total words = words per line x number of lines written
