Writing task 1 (complaint letter):
You recently bought a piece of equipment for your kitchen but it did not work. You phoned the shop but no action was taken.
Write a letter to the shop manager. In your letter
– Describe the problem with the equipment
– Explain what happened when you phoned the shop
– Say what would you like the manager to do
Dear Sir or Madam,
The purpose of this letter is to express my dissatisfaction with the blender I purchased in your store last week, and with the poor customer service I received when I called your company to discuss the issue.
The problem with the blender is that the blades do not spin properly. When I turn the blender on the blades start rotating at a fast speed and then they suddenly stop spinning.
Immediately after I noticed this defect, I called the shop requesting remedial action to be taken; however, the person who answered the phone replied that there was nothing he could do to solve the problem.
I would appreciate it if you could replace my faulty blender for a new one of the same brand and colour since the product has a one year warranty and I have kept the receipt of my purchase.
Please contact me and let me know how you intend to resolve this matter.
Yours faithfully,
Steven Smith
Hello! sir,
I have doubt regarding ” Yours sincerely” it should not be “Yours faithfully” here as we have used Dear Sir or Madam.
Yes, thanks, I have changed it.
