reasons you fail your test

Sometimes students get their results and are devastated. I just want to mention some of the factors that influence your score in any particular test.
1. Your English ability
2. Your knowledge of the test (I have had students who are native English users fail to get to 7 for writing, and I think this is why!)
3. Your luck with the questions you get in your test
4. Your performance on the day
5. The examiner’s performance. Examiners are people and their mood and energy level may influence their grading. This is a good reason to consider a recount, which is covered by another thread on this forum.

My suggestion is that you forget your past test and start preparing for your nest one. Don’t give up, just try harder. Please see my preparation page for ideas about how to score well for each part of the test:
