After the recording (10 minutes transfer time)
♦ Check for spelling or grammatical errors

♦ Fill in something for any missing answers. If you are not sure – GUESS!

Transferring information from the question sheet to the answer sheet – after the listening test has finished, you have 10 minutes to transfer your answers to the answer sheet. This is actually a lot of time and is time that can see your grade going down, staying the same, or increasing. You, of course, have to make sure that your grade does not go down.

You do this by making sure that you use this time properly. This is not a time where you have to focus on listening but it is certainly a time where you must concentrate. For example, you must focus on putting the correct answer in the correct space on the answer sheet. Make sure that you spell words correctly and when needed, make sure that the grammar is correct, use capital letters when necessary, and add units for numbers if they are not already in the information provided on the question sheet.

Make sure that you answer different question types in the way they ask. For example, if the question asks you to complete the note ‘in the…’ and the correct answer is ‘morning’, note that if you write ‘in the morning’ it would be incorrect; the correct answer needed is ‘morning’

Also, use this time to guess as NO points are taken away from you if you guess incorrectly. On the other hand, a correct guess can mean the difference between the grade you want and having to take the test again.

Take time to write clearly as this can make the examiner think you have spelt something incorrectly or provided the wrong answer because it is difficult to read what you have written.
