PART 1: previous questions
ADVERTISING
Do you like to watch advertisements on TV?
No, not really because I find them really annoying. Occasionally there is an advertisement that is interesting when you see it for the first time but after a while, it too becomes boring. However, I do realise they are a necessary evil as TV companies have to make money so I guess it’s a small price to pay.
How often do you see advertisements on the internet?
Advertisements on the internet are constant. It is very rare nowadays to find a website that does not have some type of advertisements. Some are very crafty as they manage to store your preferences and provide advertisements on the page you are visiting that are targeted towards those. That is really annoying as I feel my right to privacy is being violated.
Do you like the advertisements that you can see on the street?
Well, that depends on where the advertisements are. For instance, if the adverts are displayed on colourful vibrate billboards in the middle of the city, it can only add to the attractiveness of the area as I think most cities are very unattractive. However, when the adverts are displayed in leafy suburban areas or I think it is disgusting.
Have you ever bought anything after seeing it in an advertisement?
I would like to say no but the reality is that I do quite often. One example that springs to mind was when I was trying to think of a gift to give my wife for Christmas. I just could not think of anything but then I saw the new Samsung J7 Pro advertised on a street billboard. It attracted my attention because of the promotional price and the new camera features.
ART
Do you like art?
As a teenager, I would say that I am definitely interested in art and enjoy looking at and creating different types of artwork. I find that art can be a really interesting and enjoyable way to express myself and explore my creativity. Whether it’s drawing, painting, sculpture, or any other medium, I think that art has the ability to convey emotions and ideas in a way that words alone cannot.
Would you like to be an artist?
If given the opportunity, I think that being an artist would be a really rewarding and fulfilling career choice. It would allow me to express myself creatively and share my ideas and emotions with others through my art. I also think that the process of creating art, whether it’s through sketching, painting, or sculpting, can be a meditative and therapeutic activity.
What artwork do you have on the walls of your home?
As a teenager, I don’t currently have any artwork on the walls of my home. However, I am always on the lookout for new pieces to add to my collection. I enjoy looking for unique and interesting pieces that speak to me personally, whether it’s a beautiful landscape painting or an abstract piece that challenges my perspective. I also enjoy supporting up-and-coming artists by purchasing their work and helping to promote their talent.
Have you ever visited an art gallery?
Yes, I have visited an art gallery before and it was a really interesting and enjoyable experience. It was really cool to see all of the different styles and mediums that artists use to create their work and to learn about the different techniques and ideas behind each piece. I also enjoyed the opportunity to see a wide range of art in one place and to be able to compare and contrast different pieces and styles.
BAGS
What kind of bags do you own?
I own several kinds of bags for different purposes and occasions. For example, I have a backpack for school, a suitcase for traveling, a handbag for going out, a tote bag for shopping, and a gym bag for exercising. I like to have different bags that suit my needs and preferences.
What items do you keep in your bag?
I always keep the essentials in my bag: my wallet, phone, keys, and Kleenex. You never know when you’ll require them. I also have some extras such as headphones, a power bank, lip balm, and hand cream. They make my life easier and more pleasant. Oh, and I always have gum or mints on hand in case I need to refresh my breath.
When was the last time you bought a bag?
I bought a bag about two months ago when I went shopping with my friend. It was a backpack that I needed for my school. It was black and had many pockets and compartments. I liked it because it was spacious and comfortable to carry.
Have you ever lost a bag?
Yes, I have lost a bag once when I was traveling by train. It was a small handbag that I put on the overhead rack. When I got off the train, I forgot to take it with me. It had my wallet, my phone, and some other important things. I was very upset and tried to contact the train station, but they couldn’t find it. I had to cancel my cards and buy a new phone.
CHOCOLATE
Do you like chocolate?
Yes, I absolutely love chocolate! There’s just something about its rich, sweet flavor and smooth, creamy texture that I find completely irresistible. Whether it’s a simple chocolate bar or a more elaborate chocolate dessert, I can’t get enough of it.
Did you like chocolate when you were a child?
IYes, I have always been a big fan of chocolate. Even as a child, I remember always being excited to have a chocolate treat as a special treat or reward. Chocolate has always been one of my favorite indulgences and I can’t imagine life without it.
Have you ever given chocolate as a gift to someone?
Yes, I have given chocolate as a gift many times before and it has always been well-received. There’s just something about chocolate that makes it the perfect gift for any occasion, whether it’s a holiday, birthday, or just because I want to. I often like to give chocolate in combination with other gifts or as part of a gift basket, but it’s always appreciated on its own as well.
How popular is chocolate in your country?
Chocolate is incredibly popular in my country and can be found in almost every grocery store and specialty shop. There is a wide variety of chocolate brands and types available, ranging from classic milk chocolate to more exotic dark chocolate flavors. Chocolate is also a popular ingredient in many desserts and treats, and can be found in bakeries, cafes, and restaurants across the country
CONCENTRATION
Do you find it easy to concentrate?
Yes, it is tough for me to focus on something for an extended period of time. I become tired and restless easily and want to do something else. Other things that look more intriguing or thrilling than what I’m supposed to be doing also distract me.
What do you do to help yourself focus?
Making a list is one of the things I do to help me concentrate. I make a list of what I need to do and how long it will take. This allows me to arrange my work and focus on what is most important or urgent. I also divide the task into smaller parts and assign little goals to each one. This makes the job easier and more enjoyable.
What things may distract you?
Some things that may distract me are noises, such as traffic, music, or conversations. I’m very sensitive to sounds and they can easily interrupt my train of thought. Another thing that may distract me is boredom. If I find something too easy or too difficult, I tend to lose interest and look for something else to do.
In what situations do you need to concentrate?
I need to concentrate in situations where I have to perform well or learn something new. For example, when I take an exam, give a presentation, or study a foreign language. These situations require me to pay attention and recall information accurately.
DAY OFF
What do you usually do when you have days off?
When I have days off, I like to recharge my batteries and take some well-deserved R&R. I often kick back and relax, catching up on my favorite TV shows or indulging in a good book. Sometimes, I also enjoy exploring new hobbies or engaging in outdoor activities to make the most of my free time.
What did you do on your last day off?
On my last day off, I decided to seize the day and make the most of my time. I hit the town and explored some local attractions and hidden gems. I also met up with a few close friends and had a blast hanging out together. It was a memorable day filled with laughter, adventure, and great company.
What will you do on your next day off?
On my next day off, I plan to take it easy and pamper myself. I’m looking forward to having a spa day, treating myself to a rejuvenating massage and indulging in some self-care activities. It will be a wonderful opportunity to unwind, relax, and recharge before diving back into the demands of daily life.
Do you usually spend your days off with your family or with your friends?
It varies, but I tend to alternate between spending my days off with family and friends. Family holds a special place in my heart, so I cherish the quality time I get to spend with them on my days off. However, I also value the bonds of friendship, and spending leisure time with friends brings me joy and creates lasting memories. Ultimately, striking a balance between the two is important to me.
DREAMS and AMBITIONS
Do you think you are an ambitious person?
Absolutely! I’ve always been one to reach for the stars and never settle for less. I firmly believe in setting high goals and working relentlessly to achieve them. I’m always driven to push my limits and strive for success.
Are you the kind of person who sticks to your goals and dreams?
Without a doubt! Once I set my mind on something, I’m determined to see it through. I firmly believe in staying focused and persevering even in the face of challenges. I’m not one to easily give up on my goals and dreams; instead, I consistently work towards them with unwavering dedication.
What is your dream job?
My dream job is to be a trailblazing entrepreneur. I aspire to establish my own business and make a significant impact in the industry. I envision creating innovative solutions, leading a dynamic team, and contributing to the growth and development of society through my entrepreneurial ventures.
Do you have any other ambitions or dreams?
Yes, definitely! Alongside my dream of becoming an entrepreneur, I have a burning passion for environmental conservation. I dream of actively participating in initiatives that promote sustainability and preserve our planet for future generations. I’m motivated to contribute to the global effort of creating a greener and more sustainable world.
FIXING THINGS
Do you like to fix things?
I do, indeed. It gives me a sense of success and happiness to fix things. I also prefer to preserve money and resources by mending items rather than throwing them away or purchasing new ones.
Did you learn to fix anything when you were a child?
I did, indeed. My father taught me how to do simple household repairs like changing a light bulb, tightening a screw, and replacing a fuse. He also taught me how to use several tools, including a hammer, a screwdriver, and a wrench. He stressed the need of learning these skills and becoming self-sufficient.
When was the last time you fixed something?
Let me see that’s a tricky one. Oh yeah, I last fixed something around a week ago. I reattached my broken bicycle chain. It wasn’t difficult, although it took some time and work to reattach it.
How often do you break things?
I don’t break stuff very often, but accidents do happen. For example, while doing the dishes the other day, I smashed a glass. I dropped it on the floor because I wasn’t paying attention. It shattered into bits, and I had to clean up the resulting shambles.
FRIENDS
Do you have many friends?
I have a few close friends who I keep in touch with regularly, but I wouldn’t say I have a wide circle of friends. When it comes to friendship, I believe that quality is more essential than number. I would rather have a few meaningful relationships than many shallow ones.
What kind of people do you like to have as friends?
I prefer friends who are truthful, loyal, supportive, and enjoyable. I value friends who can tell me the truth even when it’s difficult to hear it, who remain by me through thick and thin, who push me to follow my goals and objectives, and who can make me laugh and enjoy life.
Do you keep in contact with any childhood friends?
I do, indeed. I’ve known two childhood buddies since kindergarten.. Even though we now live in different places, we maintain in touch on a regular basis via phone conversations, messaging, and social media. We also make an effort to get together at least once a year to catch up and reminisce.
Do you prefer to spend your leisure time with friends or alone?
It depends on my mood. I enjoy spending time with my pals on occasion, especially when I want to socialise or do something fun and adventurous. But I’m a bit of an introvert and sometimes I prefer to be alone, especially when I need some peace and quiet or personal space. I believe it is critical to strike a balance between the two.
ICE CREAM
Do you like to eat ice cream?
I’m a big fan ice cream! It’s one of my favorite desserts, and I can never resist indulging in a scoop or two. The creamy texture and the wide range of flavors available make it a delightful treat that always puts me in a great mood.
What is your favourite flavour of ice cream?
My favorite flavor of ice cream is mint chocolate chip. I’m fond of the refreshing taste of mint combined with the crunchy bits of chocolate. It’s a perfect balance of sweetness and coolness that satisfies my palate.
How often did you eat ice cream when you were a child?
I ate ice cream quite often. It was a special treat that my parents would occasionally surprise me with. Whether it was a visit to an ice cream parlor or a simple bowl of homemade ice cream by my mom, those moments brought me great joy and a sense of excitement

Ice cream is very popular in my country. It’s a common dessert that people enjoy all year round, especially during the hot summer months. There are many ice cream shops and brands that offer a variety of flavors and toppings to suit different preferences and tastes.
HOME
Do you live in a house or an apartment?
[house or apartment]
I live in an apartment, you know, it always amazes me to hear some people in China refer to their apartment as a house. Perhaps they are confused because a house is a dwelling or home that is situated on its own piece of land.
How long have you lived there?
I have lived here for almost 3 years now. It was a new building when we moved in and everything is so new and modern. The problem is the lack of amenities in the
surrounding area.
Which room does your family spend most of the time in?
Of course, we spend most of the time that we are awake in the living room. As I said, it is an open-plan living room with a small kitchen. This means that while my wife is cooking, we can still talk to each other about our day.
HOMETOWN
Where is your hometown?
My hometown is Beijing or Peking as some people say. It’s a very big city, of
course, it’s the capital of China. There are about 22 million people living
there and I believe it’s the third biggest city in the world.
Is there anything you dislike about it?
If I had to pick one thing I don’t like, probably, like most people it would be the
traffic. Although we have a good transportation system, sometimes there is
congestion and of course, that takes up a lot of time and pollution also is
another issue.
Do you think you will continue living there for a long time?
Yes, I would like to live here for as long as possible. I do have an ambition in the
future to live overseas, but I would certainly come back to Beijing again and
live here in the future.
HOUSEWORK
How often do you do housework?
I would have to say every day because I live alone so there is no one to share the burden. Additionally, if I do not do some every day and keep on top of it, it will soon become a huge task.
Did you do household work when you were a child?
Yes, I had tasks that my parents set for me like cleaning the dishes after dinner and tidying my own room. As I got older, I had to do more such as washing my clothes but when I was really busy with studying my mother would help me with my chores.
Is there any kind of housework you particularly dislike?
I have got to admit that I really do detest most of the housework. In particular, cleaning the bathroom is the one that I dislike the most. The reason being is that the chemicals that need to be used can be quite strong and it is not a very pleasant task.
Do you think you will do more or less housework in the future?
I have to admit that my goal in life is to try and reduce it but I just don’t see it happening. However, my friend Mike lives in a serviced apartment and whilst the rent is a little more expensive there is a person who comes and cleans his apartment every day. Hopefully, a day will come when I can afford to live in a place like that.
JEWELRY
Do you like wearing jewelry?
Yes, I greatly enjoy wearing jewelry and find it to be a stylish and fashionable accessory. Whether it’s a simple of earrings or a more elaborate necklace or bracelet, I think that jewelry has the ability to add a touch of personality and glamour to any outfit.
Have you ever bought someone jewelry as a gift?
Yes, I have purchased jewelry as a gift for others on several occasions. I think that jewelry is a thoughtful and elegant gift that can be treasured for years to come. Whether it’s a simple piece or something more elaborate, I think that jewelry is a timeless and appreciated gift for any occasion.
What type of jewelry would you like to buy?
As a teenager, I don’t currently have any artwork on the walls of my home. However, I am always on the lookout for new pieces to add to my collection. I enjoy looking for unique and interesting pieces that speak tI am always on the lookout for unique and interesting pieces of jewelry to add to my collection. Jewelry is quite popular in my country, with a wide range of styles and types available to suit different tastes and budgets. Some of the most popular types of jewelry in my country include classic gold and silver pieces, as well as more modern, trendy pieces made from materials such as stainless steel and titanium.
KEYS
Do you have a lot of keys?
Yes, I do have quite a large number of keys that I keep organized on a keyring or in a key holder. Having multiple keys is essential for managing the various locks that I utilize on a daily basis, such as for my home, office, and vehicle.
Do you always take your keys when you go out?
Absolutely, I always ensure that I have my keys with me when I go out. They are an indispensable item for accessing my various locks and allow me to enter and exit various locations with ease. Not having my keys can be highly inconvenient and potentially stressful, so I always make it a point to keep track of them and have them with me at all times.
Have you ever lost a key?
Unfortunately, I have lost a key before, which was a rather frustrating and inconvenient experience. Losing a key can be disruptive to one’s daily routine and can also pose security risks if the lost key is to a particularly important lock.
Do you do anything to avoid losing keys?
Yes, I have implemented a few strategies to avoid losing keys. Firstly, I try to always keep my keys organized and in a designated spot, such as on a keyring or in a key holder, to make them easier to find and keep track of. Additionally, I have labeled my keys with identifying tags to make them easier to distinguish from one another
LANGUAGES
What foreign languages have you studied?
I have studied a number of foreign languages. I have studied Zulu in school which was fun to learn as there are some words that begin with this weird clicking sound. We had so much fun trying to get that sound right. The great thing was we learnt about really interesting kings like Shaka Zulu.
Do you think that English is difficult to learn?
I believe that it is a relatively difficult language. I am sure someone who is a native Spanish or French speaker will not find English as hard to learn as someone whose native language does not have the same origins. It is also a skill that has to be practiced and used so it is not simply a question of studying books.
How long have you been studying English?
I have been studying English for a very long time. My parents sent me to a private school because of the English program. I would like to think that I have been successful but it has not been easy finding people to practice speaking with.
Is there any language you would like to learn in the future?
I would have to say that there are so many languages I would like to learn. I enjoy salsa dancing so I would love to be able to speak Spanish. But I also love karate so I would also love to study Japanese. Sadly, there are only so many hours in the day and I just don’t have the time.
LIBRARY
How often do you go to a library?
I don’t go to the library all that often, probably only a few times a year. I tend to do most of my reading online or on my e-reader, so I don’t really have a need to visit the library too frequently.
When was the last time you went to a library?
Hmm, I can’t really remember the exact last time I went to the library. It’s been a while, probably a few months at least.
Did you go to the library when you were a child?
Yeah, I used to go to the library all the time when I was a kid. I loved browsing the shelves and checking out all the different books they had. It was always a special treat to be able to pick out a new book and bring it home to read.
How popular are libraries in your country?
I think libraries are still pretty popular in my country, although I think they might not be as heavily used as they were in the past. With the rise of e-books and online reading, I think fewer people are physically going to the library these days. Still, I think libraries are an important resource and offer a lot of valuable services to communities, so I hope they continue to thrive.
MUSIC
How often do you listen to music?
I listen to music pretty much every day, whether it’s on my way to work, at the gym, or just hanging out at home. Music is just such a big part of my life and I can’t really imagine going through a day without it.
What kind of music do you like most?
I like a pretty wide range of music, but I guess if I had to pick a favorite it would be rock. I love the energy and passion that rock music has, and there are just so many great bands and artists in the genre. That being said, I also enjoy listening to other types of music, like pop, hip hop, and even some classical.
When do you listen to music?
I listen to music pretty much all the time, honestly. Like I said, it’s just such a big part of my life and I find it really helps to set the tone for my day. I’ll listen to music when I’m getting ready in the morning, while I’m working or doing errands, and even when I’m winding down at night. It just kind of depends on my mood and what I’m doing at the moment.
What types of music are most popular in your country?
I think the most popular types of music in my country are probably pop and hip hop. Those are definitely the genres that get the most airplay on the radio and have the most mainstream appeal. That being said, there is also a pretty diverse music scene in my country, with a lot of great bands and artists in a variety of different genres, so there’s something for everyone.
MORNING ROUTINES
What do you do in the mornings?
In the morning I usually get up at about 6 AM. I checked my emails to see if there is anything important that needs my attention. After that, I like to have breakfast and then if I have time during the day, I like to go to the gym first
Is breakfast important?
Absolutely breakfast is said to be the most important meal of the day having a good breakfast prepares you for the day ahead and ensures that you have plenty of energy to cope with the challenges that lie ahead. I feel that I can not function well until I have had my Brekky.
What is your morning routine?
In the morning I normally get up and go have a shower. After my shower, I will put the kettle on and go check my emails to see if there is anything urgent that I need to take care of. After checking my emails. I will make a cuppa tea and sit down quietly and drink that cup then I’m ready to start the day
Do you like to get up early in the morning?
No, I don’t like getting up early in the morning. Unfortunately, I have to because I am so busy but if I had my choice I’d like to sleep in for the whole morning as I could
NAMES
Does your name have any special meaning?
No, it does not. I think you will find that many western names do not but if you look at other cultures there are many where peoples’ names do. For instance, I know a girl in Thailand whose name translates to waterfall and she was given that name because she cried a lot when she was born.
If you could change your name, would you?
It is quite easy to legally change one’s name in Australia and other western nations but I would not do it as it would create too much angst amongst my family. Most of the family would consider it an insult and there would end up being some arguments over it.
Is it easy for you to remember people’s names?
That is something that I have great difficulty with. There have been times when I have met someone days after being introduced to them and I have no recollection of the name. It can be a bit embarrassing. Strangely enough, I am good with faces and as soon as I recognize someone, I can remember a lot about them and our past conversations but perhaps not their name.
How do you feel when people don’t remember your name?
It really does depend on the circumstances and who they are. If I was in a new class, for instance, I would not expect the teacher to instantly remember my name and in most cases when it happens, it is like water off a duck’s back and is not something I am overly concerned about. If a close friend could not recall my name, I might be more concerned about their mental state.
NOISE
What type of noises do you often hear?
Well, it depends on where I am and what I’m doing at the moment. If I’m at home, I might hear the sound of my pets running around, the TV or music playing, or just the normal sounds of everyday life. If I’m out and about, I might hear the sound of traffic, people talking, or maybe some construction going on. There’s just a lot of different sounds that I encounter on a daily basis.
Are there any sounds you like?
Yeah, there are definitely some sounds that I really enjoy. I love the sound of nature, like birds chirping or the rustling of leaves in the wind. I also really enjoy listening to music and find that it can really lift my mood and set the tone for my day. There are just so many great sounds out there that bring me joy and happiness.
What kind of noise do you dislike most?
Hmm, that’s a tough one. I guess if I had to pick the noise that I dislike the most, it would probably be loud, jarring noises. Things like loud car alarms or construction noise can be really annoying and disruptive, and I just find them really grating on my nerves.
Is your area becoming noisier?
I’m not really sure, to be honest. I think it kind of depends on where I am and what I’m doing. Some areas are definitely noisier than others, but overall I don’t think the noise level in my area has changed all that much. There are just always going to be some noise and activity going on, no matter where you are.
OUTER SPACE and STARS
Did you learn about outer space and stars at school?
Yeah, I definitely learned about outer space and stars in school. We studied a lot of different topics in science class, and I remember learning about the solar system, the different planets, and the stars. It was always one of my favorite subjects and I found it really fascinating to learn about the vastness of the universe and the mysteries it holds.
Would you like to travel to outer space?
Oh man, that would be an amazing experience! I would love to travel to outer space and see what it’s like first hand. It would definitely be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and something that I would never forget.
Do you think it’s important to study the stars?
I definitely think it’s important to study the stars. There’s just so much that we don’t know about the universe and the stars are such a big part of it. Studying the stars can help us to better understand the world around us and the forces that shape it. It can also help us to appreciate the beauty and wonder of the universe and to feel more connected to it.
Would you like to travel to outer space?
Oh man, that would be an amazing experience! I would love to travel to outer space and see what it’s like first hand. It would definitely be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and something that I would never forget.
RAIN
Do you like rainy weather?
No, I really can’t stand rainy weather. I think rain is very depressing and gloomy. I hate getting wet and cold. I also dislike the noise of thunder and lightning and the inconvenience it causes to transportation and outdoor activities.
Do you prefer wet or dry weather?
I’m keen on dry weather because I like the feeling of warmth and sunshine. I think dry weather is good for the mood and the energy. I’m also fond of dry weather because it means there is less risk of flooding and diseases.
What do you do on rainy days?
On rainy days, I’m fond of staying indoors and do some relaxing activities. For example, I might read a book, watch a movie, listen to music, or play some games. I also like to drink some hot tea or coffee and eat some snacks.
Does it rain a lot in your country?
No, it doesn’t rain a lot. We have a continental climate with two seasons: dry and wet. The dry season lasts from October to May, when we have very little rain or snow. The wet season lasts from June to September, when we have moderate rain occasionally.
READING
Do you like reading?
I used to love reading all the time. If I picked up a good book, I would not put it down until I had finished. Nothing beats the feel of a real novel in your hands and the great thing is that the book itself never needs recharging. The only problem is that being a bit of a bookworm results in a large number of books being stored at home and when you move homes those books are really heavy.
Do you usually read for leisure or for work?
I used to read mostly for leisure. However, currently, most of my reading is for work which means that by the end of a day’s work I really am not interested in reading. The other issue is that most of the reading for work is done using a computer. I guess it is high time for me to read a good novel or something.
What was your favourite book when you were a child?
That is easy to answer; without a doubt it was any one of the adventure novels written by Willard Price. Mr Price was a Canadian-born, American author of a fourteen-book series of books chronicling the adventures of two teenagers travelling around the globe capturing exotic and dangerous animals for Zoos. Perhaps this is not a politically acceptable pastime nowadays but a very exciting set of books for any youngster even today.
Are you reading any books now?
No, I am not currently reading any books. I actually just do not have the time. It would actually be nice to be sitting on a plane with nothing to do but to read a book. The sad thing is that most planes nowadays have inflight entertainment systems which always distract me from reading.
SINGING
Do you like singing?
Absolutely, I love it. What I lack in talent I make up for in enthusiasm but sadly I don’t think anyone else appreciates it when I am giving a rendition of my favorite song, that’s why I enjoy driving a car on my own as I can sing to my heart’s content.
Have you ever taken singing lessons?
No, and to be perfectly honest with you, I would have to admit that would have been a waste of money. As I intimated previously, I do not have much in the way of natural talent so it is unlikely I would ever improve regardless of how many lessons I might take.
Do you sing more or less than when you were a child?
As a kid, I used to worry a lot about what people thought and whenever I sang a song, I would be subjected to negative comments so I lost my confidence. However, now I am older I do not care about the opinions of others so much so if my favorite song is playing I have no qualms about singing along with it, in a nutshell, it is definitely more nowadays.
Do you think singing can bring happiness to people?
Absolutely yes; however, it does also depend on the type of song being sung. A sad song can put people in a very somber mood whereas an uplifting rock and roll song can fill somebody with joy. Likewise, a love song can bring lovers together and fill them with feelings of warmth but someone single might get reminded they are alone and get depressed.
SMALL BUSINESS
How often do you shop at small businesses?
I try to shop at small businesses as much as I can, especially when I’m looking for something specific or unique. I find that small businesses often have a lot of character and offer products that you can’t really find at big chain stores. I also like the idea of supporting local businesses and helping to keep money in the community.
Do you prefer buying things from small businesses or big businesses?
I definitely have a preference for small businesses, especially when I’m looking for something specific or unique. I find that small businesses often have more of a personal touch and offer products that are made with more care and attention to detail. That being said, there are definitely some things that are easier to find at big chain stores, so I’ll sometimes shop there if I need something basic or widely available.
Are there many small businesses where you live?
There are definitely a good number of small businesses where I live, especially in the downtown area. There are a lot of independent shops, restaurants, and other small businesses that are owned and operated by people in the community. It’s always nice to see these businesses doing well and adding to the character of the neighborhood.
Would you prefer to work for a small business or a large business?
That’s a tough one, honestly. Both small businesses and large businesses have their pros and cons. On the one hand, small businesses can often offer more of a personal touch and a sense of community, and you might have more opportunity to make an impact. On the other hand, large businesses can offer more stability and resources, and might be able to offer more opportunities for advancement. Ultimately, I think it really comes down to the specific business and the culture it creates.
STAYING HEALTHY
Do you do anything to keep healthy?
Oh, for sure I do. For the main part, I try to eat a balanced diet with lots of fruits and vegetables. I also drink plenty of water and avoid junk food and alcohol. STAYING UP LATE
How often do you stay up late??
It really depends on my schedule and what I have going on. Some weeks I’ll stay up late a few times, and other weeks I might not stay up late at all. It just really depends on my energy levels and how busy I am.
When did you last stay up late?
I can’t really remember exactly when I last stayed up late. Like I mentioned before, it just kind of depends on my schedule and how much I have going on. Sometimes I’ll stay up late because I’m working on something or just feeling really energized, and other times I’ll go to bed early because I’m tired and ready to get some rest.
How do you feel after staying up late?
It really depends on how long I’ve stayed up and how much sleep I’ve gotten. If I’ve only stayed up a few hours past my normal bedtime, I might feel a little tired but not too bad. But if I’ve stayed up all night or barely gotten any sleep, I’ll definitely feel pretty exhausted and not at my best the next day.
Does anything make it difficult for you to fall asleep?
There are definitely some things that can make it harder for me to fall asleep, like if I’m feeling really stressed or anxious. Sometimes my mind just won’t turn off and I’ll lie awake for a while. I also have a pretty active imagination, so sometimes I’ll start to come up with all sorts of scenarios in my head and it can be hard to shut them off and fall asleep. Noise can also be a factor if it’s really loud or disruptive.
STUDY
What subject do you study?
My major is actually biological science, which I took at the university of Warwick in England and I studied that for three years and graduated with a BSC honours. I had to study things like animal and plant physiology and anatomy, genetics and so on.
Why did you choose to study that subject?
I decided to study biological science because first of all, I enjoyed the subject as I’ve mentioned, but also I found it very easy. It was not difficult to study biology it seemed common sense, and so I wanted to learn as much as possible about the subject.
Are your studies interesting?
I actually found it very interesting, particularly the genetic side of it. We had to do little experiments with fruit flies, Drosophila, and see how they would change physically after mixing one type of fruit fly with another and seeing what the next generation looked like …yeah very interesting.
TEACHERS
What kinds of teachers do you like best?
The best teachers are those that understand that everyone has a different way of learning. They understand how to guide a student towards the answers and one key trait is patience. I think another great characteristic of a good teach is a sense of humour.
Have you ever had bad teachers before?
Yes, I definitely have had bad teachers. Some of the worst I can remember have been university lecturers. For some reason, some of the professors who have excellent knowledge of their respective subject are actually terrible teachers. I guess that teacher training is not a prerequisite.
Who was your favourite teacher when you were young?
I would have to say it was a young student teacher. Her name was Miss Downing and her family owned the local bakery called Downings. She organised a school outing for all of us to go and see the bakery. After a tour of the bakery, we were all given our choice of cakes. I chose my favourite chocolate cake.
Would you like to be a teacher in the future?
No, I have no ambition to be a school teacher. I tried it for a while and after my first practical I decided it was not for me. There is no discipline in the classroom and classroom management is unbelievably hard.
T-SHIRTS
Do you like wearing T-shirts?
I love T-shirts, especially V-neck and striped ones. They’re versatile and I prefer a simple, casual style with some added details like a necklace. I enjoy putting together outfits.
How often do you wear T-shirts?
I wear T-shirts every day in summer. I prefer pure cotton ones for comfort and to avoid post-workout odor. I wear them on weekdays and weekends.
Do you like T-shirts with pictures or prints?
I prefer small, subtle prints like badges. T-shirts with large, eye-catching pictures can look tacky.
Would you buy T-shirts as souvenirs on vacation?
Yes, I like buying T-shirts as souvenirs to commemorate experiences. I’m also drawn to co-branded or artist-designed Tees. Slogans and graphics on T-shirts can be calming.
WEEK
What is your favorite day of the week?
I prefer Sundays because they are peaceful and quiet. I like to wake up late and have a leisurely breakfast. Then I usually read a book or listen to some music. Sometimes I go for a walk or a bike ride in the park.
How do you usually spend your time on this day?
On Sundays, I usually spend my time relaxing and recharging myself for the next week. I read a book or listen to some music in my room. I also do some meditation or yoga to calm my mind and body. Sometimes I go for a walk or a bike ride in the park to enjoy the fresh air and nature.
What is your least favorite day?
I can’t stand Wednesdays because they are in the middle of the week and I feel bored and restless. I have already done half of the week’s work or study but there is still another half to go. I also have to deal with some deadlines and pressures on Wednesdays.
Is there anything that you do every day?
Yes, there are plenty of things that I do every day. For example, I meditate for 10 minutes, learn a new word, watch a TED talk, play with my cat, and thank someone every day. These are some practices that help me improve myself and appreciate life.
WILD ANIMALS
What is your favourite wild animal?
I am a big fan of tigers. I think tigers are very majestic and powerful. I like their beautiful stripes and their fierce eyes. I also admire their hunting skills and their agility.
When did you last see a wild animal?
If memory serves me correctly, I last saw a wild animal when I went on a safari trip in Africa last year. I saw many different kinds of animals, such as lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, and rhinos. It was an amazing experience to see them in their natural habitat.
Do you like visiting zoos?
Yes, I’m really keen on visiting zoos. I think zoos are a great way to learn about different animals and their characteristics. I also think zoos can help raise awareness and protect endangered species. I enjoy seeing the animals up close and feeding them sometimes.
Does your country have a lot of wild animals?
No, my country doesn’t have a lot of wild animals. We have a small land area and a high population density. We have lost many of our native animals due to habitat loss, poaching, and pollution. We can only see a wild animal once in a blue moon.
WORK
What job do you do?
I am currently working as an English teacher in Qingdao. This is a very famous city in China. One of the reasons it is so famous is Qingdao beer. It also has many picturesque beaches.
What do you like most about your job?
I guess like any job, it can be a bit tedious at times. However, for the most part, it is very interesting because I am constantly meeting new people.
Do you work better in the morning or the afternoon?
I would have to say that I work harder in the afternoon. I normally only have two or three classes in the morning and I start the day by doing all the planning for the day’s lessons. This normally takes between an hour or two, depending on the lessons. I then have to teach all afternoon.
WRITING
Do you like writing by hand?
As far as I am concerned, writing is just a tool. Albeit whether it’s handwriting, or using typing my handwriting is not that good, and sometimes I even find it hard to read what I have written. I guess what I am trying to say is that I do not have strong feelings either way.
How often do you write with a pen?
I hardly ever use a pen and if I do, it’s normally to make a short note to remind me to do something. Just about everything I write nowadays is done using a computer. In fact, I used to be able to handwrite for hours on end, but currently, if I write for longer than five minutes my hand really starts to hurt.
Do you prefer to handwrite or type?
To be perfectly frank, I am sitting on the fence with this question. Handwriting can be done anywhere and at any time as long as you have a pen and paper and enough light. Using a computer on the other hand is limited by the availability of electricity. Even if you are using a laptop there will come a time when the device needs charging. Therefore, as far as I’m concerned. Both have a place in my life.
Is your handwriting easy to read?
Sadly, no, it is often hard for people to decipher. My handwriting has never been legible and in fact, it has got worse because I seldom need to write nowadays. However, I have found that if I use a really good quality pen, the quality of my writing gets to be a lot easier to read.

There’s this old lady that I know named Mrs. Johnson. She’s like a grandma to me, even though she’s not related to me. I met her when I was a kid because my parents used to take me to her church. She’s always been so kind and welcoming to me, and we’ve stayed in touch ever since.
Mrs. Johnson is in her 90s, but she’s still as sharp as a tack. She’s got this great sense of humor and she’s always cracking jokes, it’s so refreshing. She’s also super religious, and I really admire her faith. She’s always been an inspiration to me in that way.
Whenever I’m back in town, I try to visit her. We usually just chat, she’ll tell me stories about her life, it’s always so interesting. She’s lived through so much history, and she’s got some great stories to tell. Sometimes, I’ll take her to the park, and we’ll go for a walk and feed the ducks. It’s always a good time when I’m hanging out with her.
But what I think makes her truly interesting is her perspective on life. She’s lived through so much and seen so many things change, but she’s still so positive and optimistic. She’s always telling me to look for the good in people and that things will work out in the end. And I really think that’s a valuable lesson, especially in today’s world.
Overall, I think Mrs. Johnson is an amazing person, and I feel so lucky to know her. She’s always been a mentor to me, and I always look forward to hanging out with her. She’s just one of those people that you can’t help but be inspired by.

Describe a character from a film
You should say:
what character it is
who acted as the character
when you saw the film
and explain whether you like this character.
There’s this character from a movie that I really enjoy. Robert Downey Jr. plays Tony Stark, commonly known as Iron Man. I’ve seen the film multiple times, but I believe the first time I saw it was around 2008, when it was first released.
Tony Stark is like this brilliant billionaire playboy philanthropist. He has a lot of money and power, but he also has a big ego and is a bit of a jerk at the start of the movie. But as the novel progresses, he realizes that all of his wealth and power are meaningless unless he uses them to assist others. He becomes this hero and begins to use his resources to develop the Iron Man armor in order to battle crime.
Robert Downey Jr. does an excellent job portraying this character. He has all of Stark’s charisma and charm, but he also does an excellent job of depicting Stark’s metamorphosis from selfish to selfless hero. It’s fascinating to watch the character develop during the film.
Tony Stark is one of my favorite characters since he is so complicated. He has all of these weaknesses, but he also has this determination to do good and make a difference. He’s not a one-dimensional hero; he has depth, which makes him feel more human.
Also, it’s a Marvel movie, so the humor and action are perfectly balanced, and it’s simply a wonderful movie to watch in general. That, I believe, is one of the reasons why the Iron Man films were so successful and the character has become such an iconic component of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Overall, I believe Tony Stark is a fascinating and well-developed character. Robert Downey Jr. did an excellent job portraying him, and it’s always a pleasure to see him on screen. He is without a doubt one of my favorite movie characters.

So, there’s this person I met at a party a while ago, at a friend’s birthday celebration. I didn’t know many people there, but I was there with other buddies, and we were simply socializing. And it was then that I met this man, Jake.
So Jake and I began talking, and it was one of those talks where you just click with someone. We had many interests in common, such as hiking and traveling, and we had a lot to talk about. We chatted about everything, including other climbs and places we’d been.
Jake is just a nice guy that is easy to chat to and has a fantastic sense of humour. We were both having a great time, and it was a really fun talk. One of the things that made it so fun was Jake’s genuine interest in what I had to say, as well as his ease of conversation and open-mindedness, which made it easier for me to share my thoughts and opinions.
We ended up talking for about an hour, and it was one of those discussions in which you lose track of time. The celebration was over before I knew it, and I had to leave. But Jake and I swapped numbers and have met a couple times since. It’s always a pleasure to see him, and we always have a fantastic time together.

Describe a friend from your childhood
You should say:

Where and how you met each other
What you often did together
and explain what made you like him or her
I’d like to describe an old childhood friend called Chan who I bumped into recently.
When I was young, I lived with my parents and spent most of my time with them. However, when I met my cousin, Chan, at a family gathering, we became best friends very quickly. Chan was the son of my father’s sister and my aunt and uncle lived in a nearby village so Chan and I did not attend the same elementary school. We did however keep in contact by texting and talking on Wechat and I was always excited to meet up with him at family get-togethers and parties.
As my village was small, it didn’t have a secondary school and so we ended up attending the same high school. We were inseparable, so much so that many people thought we were brothers. I would bicycle five kilometers to school and we would meet up before class and hang out talking about friends and family.
After classes, we would play football on the school playground where we became quite skilled, competitive, and athletic. One day some older students were hanging out and watching us play. They suggested we try out for the school football team. Being younger than the other team players, I didn’t think we would make the team however the coach did invite us to play. We both made the team and the following years were starters. I was so proud of our red and gold jerseys and enjoyed the team spirit and comradeship.
Chan and I still hang out and chill on a regular basis and stay in touch with many players.

The person I’d like to talk about is my colleague Francois who is French. He encouraged me to go bungy jumping! Although it was terrifying at the time, I am so glad I was able to muster up enough courage to do it.
I have known Francois for about a year. We have been working in the same company, since last year when Francois moved here from Paris. Actually, he is my boss. I am working as a software engineer and he is the manager of our team of about 20 people.
One day I was telling Francois how I admire him for all the risky activities he likes such rock climbing, surfing, diving and mountain biking. He told me he is an adventure enthusiast. He said that this weekend he will go bungy jumping and invited me to come with him. I said that I thought I was too scared to do. He said to me, listen, you must do what scares you.
I reflected on this. I think this is what inspires him to have the bravery to face the challenges in his such as living abroad and experiencing exotic customs. I thought that maybe it is time for me to face new challenges. I told Francois that I would like to hang out at the weekend and go bungy jumping with him.
Finally, the big day came and I found myself on a perfectly good bridge tied to a big elastic rope. Jumping off the bridge defied logic and it took me a few seconds to pluck up the courage but finally, I took the plunge and jumped off the bridge.
It was a truly exhilarating experience that I will never forget. I could feel the adrenaline pumping and my heart beat faster each time I dropped down. Coming back up again was also fun!
Afterward, we went to a local café for a few lattes and then went mountain biking in the nearby hills.

I am going to tell you about my grandfather, as he simply adores growing plants.
I think at the moment in China we have something like 300 million farmers. And of course, if we go back to my grandparents’ generation there would have been far more than even that figure. My grandfather grew up in Beijing and stayed there his whole life.
His parents were farmers. They grew rice and as a small boy, my grandfather had to help his parents with all of the stages of growing and harvesting rice and even packing the rice after it had been harvested.
So, he, even as a young boy, knew quite a lot about growing rice and as he became an adult, he continued the family tradition, he stayed living in his parents’ house, raised his family there as well and he continued growing rice but he also had a passion for roses and he started his own rose nursery there as well and that was very, very successful.
So. while he didn’t actually become that affluent, he did have a fairly pleasant life compared with other people in the area because his rice farm was quite large and he employed other people to help him, particularly with the sowing of the rice and the harvesting. And his interest led to him becoming very knowledgeable about the whole issue of rice and even helped the government at one stage helping them with different projects to be able to grow more rice in china.
As for the roses, he still grows them and has one of the most fantastic plantations in the province.

Just recently I watched a really funny romantic comedy called Crazy Rich Asians. The story started in New York and ended up in Singapore and the lead actress was a simply stunning-looking woman. Her name is Constance Woo. Woo is about 5’4″ possibly around about 125 pounds in weight, but she epitomises a traditional Chinese woman who always seems to have an exquisite beauty just like her. She has sharp and elegant features and almost flawless skin with luxurious black hair which really creates a contrast in the most enticing way.
But enough of what she looks like. Did you know that she was nominated for the Golden Globe award for the Best actress in a comedy or musical, and the screen actors Guild award for outstanding performance, by a cast in a motion picture, among many other accolades she has received. In fact, in 2017. She was included in the annual time 100 list of the most influential people in the world, but she is also known for being so much more than an actress. In fact, she is a feminist and activist as well as being known for her humanitarian work.
Recently, Wu started to talk about the problem of the stereotyping of Asians in Hollywood. She said that she is always being booked for supporting roles but never really the lead role. She was always just the assistant to the white person. But, now, since she’s been getting lead roles, she has now come to realise how blind she was to the stereotyping that was going on and she is now becoming quite outspoken about this which is really in contrast to the naïve innocent person she played in Crazy Rich Asians.

I recently visited the Indian city of New Delhi. It’s a massive city with a lot of history and culture, but it’s also notorious for its terrible air pollution. I think my trip there was bitter-sweet.
When I was there, car emissions and industrial factories were the main sources of pollution. In some places, the smog was so thick that you couldn’t see the buildings across the street. My eyes were stinging one day, and my throat felt scratchy. It was quite intense.
I went because I’m a big fan of Indian culture, and I thought it would be a great opportunity to see some incredible historical sites, such as the Red Fort and the Jama Masjid mosque. And I’ve got to say, the city did not let me down. Both the architecture and the history were incredible.
However, the pollution had an effect on my experience. I found myself spending a lot of time inside, and when I did go outside, I avoided the busiest, most polluted areas. Furthermore, the constant sense of filth and smog in the air made it difficult to fully enjoy my time there.
It’s heartbreaking to see such a beautiful and culturally rich area degraded by pollution. It made me consider how critical it is to protect our environment and minimize our impact on it. I’m going to describe a really beautiful park I used to visit when I was a child. It is a national park about 100km away from my hometown of Ho Chi Minh City.
With regards to the question of when I used to go there, my parents and I often went there whenever we had a long weekend. Since it’s not far away we used to drive our car. We would set off in the wee hours to avoid the hellish rush hour traffic of my city. I am not an early bird so I usually slept during the journey… and woke up in paradise!
Now concerning what this place looks like, I really felt over the moon every time I went there. It is a wonderful place with fascinating and marvelous natural beauty. There is a large salt lake in the centre of this park with extremely clean water, in which I could see the reflection of the blue sky, white clouds and green hills.
Another thing that really attracted me was that there are many kinds of fish in this lake, such as carp and trout. We often went boating and fishing in the lake. Once I even caught an angelfish, which is a beautiful fish with long fins. I wanted to bring it home as my pet, but I was afraid that I couldn’t take care of it, so I just set it free.
Finally, I’d like to mention that the most attractive feature is that the lake there is surrounded by a variety of tropical fruit trees, including lychees, durians, and mangoes. Usually, after fishing, we would have a BBQ for our lunch under those fruit trees. In the afternoon, we would rent a tandem bicycle and ride together on a small path around the lake, enjoying the tranquility and fresh air.

It is a large single-storey brick house on a large block of land on the Gold Coast of Australia. I’m a big fan of big houses and this one is huge! There are six bedrooms in all and a large living room. The kitchen, dining room and recreation room are huge.
Another reason why I’m fond of going there is because of the amazing view from the balcony. I can have panoramic views of the ocean. Also, it’s also only a five-minute stroll down to the ocean and I am a big fan of snorkeling and swimming, so I’m always keen to have a vacation there.
However, I must say that I would not want to live there for a couple of reasons. The main one is because I really can’t stand being far from the city. You know, it’s just too inconvenient to catch a movie or do any kind of serious shopping for things like accessories for my computer.
It’s also quite far away from most of my friends and social network. Furthermore, the decoration is simply not my cup of tea. The main reason is because it’s quite rundown and hasn’t been redecorated in over a decade.
Part 3:
What are the differences between buildings in the city and in the countryside?
Do you prefer to live in the city or in the countryside?

Where do people like to live in your county?
Why do many people move to the city?

Describe a house or an apartment you would like to live in
You should say:
what it is like
where it would be
why you would like to live in this house or apartment
and explain how you feel about this house or apartment
The location would be important for the perfect residence for my needs. I want be near to be where I need to commute, preferable within walking or bicycling or at least near quick public transportation. It would also need to be near green spaces to relax and chill out and have easy access to amenities like shopping, restaurants and entertainment complexes.
As for the structure, I would desire a three-bedroom rancher-style townhouse in a quiet subdivision. Let me provide more detail. I prefer a subdivision because it is away from the main traffic areas so is quieter and you can meet easier with neighbors. A townhouse community also usually has a smaller land size thereby reducing maintenance and has shared facilities, for example, a community swimming pool with food and beverages available.
Three bedrooms would be adequate with a master bedroom and one for a child’s room and the other for a quest room that can also double as a quiet computer desk. The living room would be modest with simple wall hangings and comfortable furniture. I would prefer a western kitchen with a stove and oven, refrigerator and it would have ample counter space.
PART 3
What are the differences between apartments and houses in your country?
What kinds of housing are the most popular in your country?
What are the differences between housing that young people and old people like?

Describe a time you visited a new place
You should say:
where the new place is
when you went there
why you went there
And explain how you feel about the place
Finally, I’d like to mention that the most attractive feature is that the lake there is surrounded by a variety of tropical fruit trees, including lichi trees, durian trees and mango trees. Usually, after fishing we would have a BBQ for our lunch under those fruit trees. In the afternoon, we would rent a tandem bicycle and ride together on a small path around the lake, enjoying the tranquility and fresh air.

I’m eager to tell you about an odd meal I recently had. It was only a few weeks ago, on a lovely summer evening. My friends and I decided to test out this new restaurant that had recently opened in town. It was known as “The Experimental Kitchen” because of its unique and strange meals and I am a big fan of trying new types of food.
When we arrived at the restaurant, we were greeted by a very pleasant hostess. She led us to our seat and brought us the menu. I knew this lunch was going to be extraordinary the moment I saw it. The menu was packed with unusual and exotic delicacies that I had never heard of before. I was initially hesitant, but my buddies urged me to try something new.
So I took a chance and ordered the “mystery dish,” which was the restaurant’s specialty. When the waitress brought out a platter with a silver dome on top, I was taken aback. On my dish was a massive snail! It’s unlike anything I’ve ever seen. My pals were as taken aback as I was.
It was amazing! The snail was cooked in a garlic butter sauce. I never imagined I’d love eating a snail, but it was incredibly tasty and delicate. It was without a doubt one of the most odd lunches I’ve ever experienced. Not only that, but the entrée came with a side of fried grasshoppers! They were crisp and had a nutty flavor. I was astounded to learn that they were edible.
The rest of the meal was equally bizarre. We sampled deep-fried tarantulas and a salad with mealworms. It was an experience I will never forget. We chatted about how unusual and exotic the lunch was and how much we appreciated it afterward.
Overall, the lunch at The Experimental Kitchen was unforgettable. I never imagined that I would love eating such weird cuisine, but it was a memorable experience. I’m going to talk about how I learned how to take the IELTS test from an online tutor called Mike.
It all started a few weeks ago when a colleague told me about an IELTS mock test he had taken on the Internet. He needed some tips and suggestions to improve his score as he had not done well on his last test.
He said it really helped a lot so I thought I would give it a shot. I had this online tutor called Mike and he proved to be an amazing tutor, especially to prepare for the speaking test.
I would like to mention some of the things I learned from Mike. My teacher spent a lot of time correcting my pronunciation errors and taught me to speak more naturally by using some intonation and rhythm. In addition, he taught me lots of useful idiomatic phrases to use to boost my vocabulary like I’m a night owl so I like hanging out in bars and having a chinwag with my pals.
He pointed out some of my grammar mistakes such as mixing up adjectives of people and things. For example, I used to say I am boring, but now I say I feel bored. I am not really a boring person, I only feel bored.
Thanks to Mike I scored 7 in the test and now I am on my way to the U.K. to study for a Master’s degree. If you need to take a test, you need help from Mike!

Ok, I’d like to describe a graphic novel I read recently called Ironman. It’s a kind of superhero adventure novel.
More specifically it’s an adventure about a billionaire industrialist and genius inventor named Tony Stark who owns and runs Stark Industries, a high-tech company involved in the development and testing of weapons. In his pursuit to accomplish this goal, he is suddenly kidnaped by terrorists and forced to help them build weapons of mass destruction. Instead of building weapons for them, however, he secretly builds an armoured suit that enables him to escape his captors. On his return to America Mr Stark dedicates his time to developing the suit to help combat crime and terrorism in the future.
I read the book in my apartment a few weeks ago. It was a long weekend and I spent it curled up on my sofa reading this book. I only went out one time during the weekend, to Starbucks, and even then, I could not resist bringing my book and turning a few pages over a hot latte. I was almost disappointed when my friend Bob turned up to chat. But Bob is always fun to hang out with, so I put down the book. Bob is an extrovert and cracked a lot of funny jokes and we had a great time.
I found this book was gripping right from page one. In general, the plot was easy to follow, it had lots of action and the character development was excellent. Even though the book is over 300 pages I had no problems finishing it during my three-day vacation. Later, I went to the cinema and saw the movie version of this story. I have to say that the book was much better.
Describe a movie you watched recently and would like to watch again
You should say:
what type of movie it was

Today, I’d like to talk to you about a film named Fast and Furious 7. I am a huge fan of the Fast and Furious series of movies and I was extremely excited about watching episode 7 which I loved when I saw it and cannot wait to see it one more time.
I booked the tickets and watched it in the afternoon after a university class. The movie was excellent because the cars on set were racing around doing terrific action stunts, the bad guy got punished the end of the movie and I was in high spirits during the entire movie. But there was one scene made me confused, it was at the end of the movie that two major characters Dominic and Brian were driving side by side and then they split to different directions and the background music was so sad. Meanwhile, I heard a number of people in the audience were sobbing.
Once I got home, I searched the internet, and I was shocked to find out that Paul Walker, who portrayed Brian O’Conner in the movie, died in a car accident several months before the movie was finished. I was so upset at first because he was such a great actor and he had been a part of this movie series for more than a decade. Also, the song that was playing at the ending scene was called ‘See you again’, it was specially written for the loss of Paul Walker by Charlie Puth and Wiz Khalifa.
I found out that his brother Cody Walker helped the team to finish some scenes and the post production team integrated Cody’s appearance with computer-generated Image techniques to make look like his brother. Consequently, I really want to see it again to remember a wonderful actor and secondly the production techniques used were unbelievable and now I know how they finished it I want to fully appreciate this aspect.
Part 3
Where do people normally watch movies in your country?
What are the differences between watching movies at home and in a cinema?
Are actors or actresses important to movies?
Why are there fewer people going to the cinema to watch movies nowadays?
Describe a TV program you like to watch
You should say:
what it is
what it is about
who you watch it with
and explain why you like to watch it
I am not a great fan of watching anything other than action-related television shows. However, just the other day my friend Jim introduced me to his favorite show which is called ‘Keep running’ and now I love watching it. He organized a small group of us and we all sat around in his living room, had a few delicious snacks, as well as washed them down with some nice beverages.
Before it started everyone was happy to jump in and tell me about the show. I learned that to my friends Keep Running is more than a variety show but a show they turn to during their sad times as it makes them smile. The show used to be known as Running Man or Hurry Up Brother and is a variety game show based on a Korean version of the show. Generally, the players have to play a set of games and the team that wins the final game will receive a prize.
It was with avid interest that I watched the show when it started and I soon saw first-hand that fans get to see another side of the stars that appear in the show. What I really liked was that the interaction between the players was so genuine! Each of them had their own characteristic, and they tried so hard in all the games. It was hilarious at times and at other times it was touching, and sometimes it was exciting.
So now, I never miss an episode. I just love watching the members and guests interact. In fact, one of the games they play is called mouth-rock-paper-scissors where the traditional form of the game is altered and it is played by the players using their mouths instead of their hands. Weird I know but it is so much fun that I am completely addicted to it as are many others since there have already been ten seasons of the show.
Describe a photo you took that you are proud of
You should say:
when you took it
where you took it
what is in this photo
and explain why you are proud of it
Today I would like to tell you about one of my photographs that fills me with pride. I actually used my smartphone but it looks like it was taken by a professional which is the main reason for my pride. In fact, I have had it professionally printed and framed, and it is now hanging on the wall in my bedroom.
About three months ago I was on holiday with my friend Mike in New Zealand and we hired a car to go sightseeing and whilst driving along I saw this magnificent scene of a farm so I asked Mike to stop the car and took a few pictures. I did not expect much but when I looked at them later, I found one was amazing.
The first thing that could be seen was an area of lush green grass which was between where I was standing and the farm boundary. Next was an old rustic wooden fence and on the other side of the fence there was a large open field. Most of the grass in this field was brown and looked like it was dying.
The next feature visible was a set of three buildings. One was white with an antic and looked like the farmer’s home; to the right of it was another building with a rounded roof which stuck me as being where the animals might sleep overnight. The building on the left was clearly a storage area and I assume that is where the farm implements were kept. To the left of this building was a solitary tree.
Behind this was the deep blue ocean extending to the horizon where it met the pale blue sky. There were some very soft looking white clouds and to me the light had been captured just perfectly. I feel that a person might spend their entire life trying to catch such a perfect contrast of colors; hence, my pride.
Describe a traditional product in your country
You should say:
what it is
how you know about this product
what it is made of
and explain how you feel about it
Alright, the traditional product I’d like to talk about is the famous Australian meat pie, which is definitely one of the most popular snack foods eaten in Australia.
It’s a palm-sized, square or circular shaped, baked, shortcrust pastry, filled with fatty minced meat and gravy. Other common ingredients used are diced onions, mushrooms and mashed green peas. There are also other variations of the meat pie, including the chicken pie, the steak and kidney pie, the pork pie and even the fish pie.
People like to buy meat pies because they are convenient, have a delicious savory taste and can be eaten anywhere using just your hands. You can often see people enjoying a hearty meat pie on the go or at sporting events such as the cricket in summer. It’s sold in convenience stores, cafes, at street kiosks and at social events.
It can be purchased as a counter meal for lunch or dinner at a pub and is often served on a plate with mashed potato, green peas and smeared with a generous serving of delicious gravy on top. It is also common to see people eating a meat pie with tomato sauce on top instead of gravy to enhance the taste. You can even make your own meat pies at home using your own choice of healthy ingredients.
I think pies have become part of Aussie culture for a few reasons. Mostly it is it’s a classic snack food that fits well into Australia’s easy-going society. They are easy to eat in a bar or when you are on the go. Not only that they are cheap and widely available in bars and restaurants and also in convenience stores and service stations. They are filled with local ingredients such as beef, lamb, peas and potatoes, which is another reason why they have become so popular with Aussies.
Describe a special gift you have given someone
You should say:
what the gift was
who you gave this gift to
why you gave this gift
and explain what was most special about this gift
The good news that I would like to talk about is a scarf. It was my mom’s fifty birthday that my sister and I managed to surprise her with our gift – an exclusive emerald green scarf tailor-made by the most renowned tailor in town.
Mom is the most warm-hearted and forgiving person I’ve ever known and should be given the “Mom of the Year” award if there is one. However, since there isn’t, my sister and I decided to give her the best she deserved when she turned 50 – a milestone in one’s lifetime and it was her birthday after all. Therefore, we started saving money from our part-time jobs 4 months before D-day and met up with Joe – the talented tailor who was most well-known for his remarkable collection of beautifully handmade scarfs: from silk to wool with a variety of unique patterns.
Our choice was the long and emerald one which was made in silk charmeuse, allowing it to show off saturated colors so well. The smooth texture felt like a soft touch on your skin and depending on how you tied it, you could emphasize the shiny side or the matte. We chose it not only because of its elegance and affordability in comparison with others but also its usage. It matched perfectly with different kinds of clothes and was not too thick for daily use in a tropical country.
Our mom fell in love with the scarf at first sight because it was in her favorite color or simply just because we were her favorites in the whole world. She bragged about it to all her friends and family days after that and we didn’t mind, not even the slightest as there was nothing as precious as the smile that lit up her face.
PART 3
What can parents do to teach children to save money?
Children are quick learners and can be easily affected by others’ behaviors. Therefore, it’s both a simple and challenging task at the same time to teach them anything, including how to efficiently manage their budget. Since we all learn through imitating and replication, the most practical way is to set a good example and be open to conversation. For instance, parents shouldn’t overspend if they want their children to learn how to save money. An occasional exception like Christmas can be accepted, but other than that, no. Parents can even talk to them about financial management and do not underestimate your kids since they may understand more than we believe they can.
Why do young people tend to waste money?
First of all, because they are young. Youngsters nowadays usually justify their financial issues with the YOLO philosophy which means “you only live once”. Since life is too short and nobody has got time to waste, they tend to spend much more than they can earn, buying unnecessary things they barely afford to enjoy the best out of life. Secondly, that is not even their money, but their parents’. Therefore, they don’t value the effort behind those bills and keep throwing them out of the window as long as it suits them.
What kinds of things do people like to buy in your country?
I can’t tell for sure what the overall consumer behavior is like, but one thing everyone can notice is that just like most of other nationalities people is obsessed with high-tech devices, especially smartphones and tablets. The sales volume of such digital gadgets has significantly increased over the past few years, together with the proliferations of mobile stores. From my experience and observation, Apple’s products are in high demand among the middle-class, which can be proven by the moment you step into any coffee shops in Madrid City where iPhones and MacBooks are of various types and colors.
Do schools teach anything about financial management?
Unfortunately, I have to say no, or at least it is what I know. Only after students attend university, are they going to be introduced to finance and anything related. That is if they go to schools of economics, other than, I can’t guarantee, which is actually a sad truth. Since financial management is so important in how youngsters will shape their mind and prepare for the future, such subject should be taught at high schools as one of
the most essential skills that allow students to deal with any issue related to money at the early age.
Why is it necessary to teach teenagers to manage money?
There are many topics to cover when it comes to financial management, I suppose. However, for students, I believe teaching them about the labor value, financial stability and independence is more crucial. Teenagers maybe a little young to understand how hard their parents have to work to afford the whole family but it would help if we let them do some voluntary or part-time jobs for them to have a closer look of where money comes from. From there, they would learn how not to overspend and take any amount of money for granted.
How do parents give pocket money in your country?
Frankly speaking, it heavily depends on each family and their lifestyles. Some parents grant their children a specific amount of allowance daily or weekly which they can spend on snacks or necessary learning materials and stationery when needed. Others may not give at all since their kids already are fully provided with lunch boxes and everything else.
Describe a toy you liked in your childhood
You should say:
what kind of toy it is
when you received it
how you played with it
and how you felt about it
I was especially looking forward to my 10th birthday as many of my friends and family, some I had not seen for some time, would attend. I was hoping for a model train and I was not to be disappointed. Traditionally in my family the routine is a meal first, with some of my favourite dishes followed by cutting the birthday cake. I was grateful and excited to share the special day with everyone.
Finally, I got to open my gifts. Mum and dad’s gift was first and as I unwrapped it, I felt excited and a bit apprehensive that I might be disappointed. I was almost in tears when it was revealed that it was the train set that I desired comprising a locomotive, three cars, and a caboose. The party guests must’ve been told I was getting a train set as I got additional track and model town buildings.
My cousins joined me and played with the gifts putting the track in different arrangements. I believe they may have been a bit jealous and some got train sets as gifts from their friends and family after my birthday. I spent many hours constructing the building models and rearranging the track to visit the model buildings. My interest in trains grew and I would search railroad history on the Internet. I would save up and purchase additional cars and buildings. Many hours of play and building were some of my favourite memories.

Describe an adventure you would like to go on in the future
You should say:

When I envision an adventure that I aspire to embark on in the future, an expedition to the mesmerizing landscapes of Patagonia comes to mind. This pristine region spanning across Chile and Argentina promises a breathtaking tapestry of majestic mountains, shimmering glaciers, and untamed wilderness. It is an adventure that encapsulates the spirit of exploration and the allure of the great outdoors.
Immersing myself in the rugged beauty of Patagonia, I yearn to traverse the iconic hiking trails that meander through its national parks. The idiom “take the path less traveled” perfectly captures the essence of venturing into uncharted territories, away from the beaten track, and immersing myself in the awe-inspiring natural wonders.

Describe a time you gave a speech or talk
You should say:
Who you gave the speech to

One memorable experience of giving a speech that comes to mind is when I had the opportunity to deliver a TED-style talk at a youth conference. It was a momentous occasion that allowed me to share my ideas, inspire others, and engage with a diverse audience.
Stepping onto the stage, I felt a mix of nerves and excitement coursing through my veins. As I took the microphone, I reminded myself to “seize the moment” and embrace the opportunity to make a meaningful impact. I had the feeling that all eyes were on me as I had perfectly captured the attention and focus of the audience, and I began to unfold my thoughts.
To captivate the audience, I chose a powerful opening statement, using the rhetorical technique of a “hook” to grab their attention. I shared a personal anecdote that served as a metaphor, allowing the listeners to relate to my message on a deeper level.
Throughout the speech, I employed vivid storytelling techniques, painting a vivid picture with my words. Metaphors and similes acted as “colorful brushstrokes,” adding depth and visual impact to my ideas.
To ensure clarity and coherence, I employed transitions and signposting phrases, smoothly guiding the audience through the different sections of my talk. These linguistic signposts acted as “roadmaps” that helped the listeners navigate the flow of my ideas.
During the Q&A session that followed, I had the opportunity to “think on my feet” and respond to thought-provoking questions from the audience. I drew upon my knowledge and personal experiences, striving to provide insightful and articulate answers.
In conclusion, the experience of giving a speech at the youth conference was a transformative and empowering one. It allowed me to share my ideas, connect with others, and leave a lasting impact. Through the effective use of rhetorical techniques, storytelling, and engaging delivery, I aimed to inspire and ignite change.

When I was younger, playing cards was a popular pastime that brought endless entertainment and joy. Whether it was during family gatherings, sleepovers, or lazy afternoons with friends, card games provided hours of fun and friendly competition.
One of the most beloved card games we played was “Go Fish.” It was a simple yet engaging game that required memory, strategy, and a bit of luck. The objective was to collect sets of matching cards by asking opponents if they had a specific rank. If they did, they would hand over all the cards of that rank, and if they didn’t, you would “go fish” and draw a card from the deck. The excitement of trying to collect the most sets kept us engrossed in the game.
Another popular card game we enjoyed was “UNO.” It was a game of strategy, quick thinking, and sometimes even a touch of mischief. The goal was to get rid of all your cards by matching them in color or number with the card on top of the discard pile. The twist came with special action cards, such as “Draw Two,” “Skip,” or “Reverse,” which could turn the game in your favor or against you. The moments of anticipation, laughter, and the occasional “UNO!” shout created a lively and unforgettable experience.
Playing cards also fostered social interaction and bonding. It provided an opportunity to gather around a table, engage in conversations, and share laughter. Card games allowed us to learn about each other’s personalities, discover individual playing styles, and develop friendships. It was a chance to connect with others, create lasting memories, and strengthen our social skills.
Moreover, playing cards taught us valuable life lessons. It honed our patience as we strategized and waited for the perfect moment to play our cards. It also developed our problem-solving skills, as we had to adapt our strategies based on the ever-changing card combinations. Additionally, card games taught us the importance of fair play, good sportsmanship, and the ability to gracefully accept both victories and defeats.
Looking back, playing cards when I was younger was a delightful and enriching experience. It provided entertainment, fostered social bonds, and instilled important life lessons. Whether it was the thrill of collecting sets in “Go Fish” or the strategic gameplay of “UNO,” card games hold a special place in my heart as cherished childhood memories.

Describe something you did with a group of people
You should say:
what it was
where you did it
who you’re with
and explain how you felt about it
I’d like to tell you about a really enjoyable experience I had with a group of people. It was a mountain hike to the top. We did it at a state park about an hour away from my city.
I went with a group of friends, about ten of us in total. We had been planning the hike for weeks and were all excited to finally go. When the day came, we all met at the park early in the morning to begin our hike.

We finished the hike with a picnic lunch that we had packed. We sat on the grass and ate our food while laughing and chatting. It was a fantastic way to cap off an incredible journey.
On this hike, I had a great time with my friends. It was a difficult, but also beautiful and enjoyable, experience. I felt like we all grew closer as a group, and I couldn’t have spent more time with them. I’m excited to repeat the experience next year.

At end of my commute home a couple of months ago, I discovered the electricity was off and as my apartment hasn’t got a backup generator, to my dismay, the elevators were not working. I live on the ninth floor of a fourteen-floor apartment and rather than wait for the power to return, I chose to take the stairs.
During my accent, I caught up with a young child who was struggling up the stairway. She had a couple of grocery bags and I offered to help her. She smiled and gracefully took me up on my offer. I carried the groceries in one hand while she held onto my arm and we made our way up the stairs ever so slowly.
It took some time to climb to the seventh floor where she lived. She was so grateful and offered me a cold beverage, but I politely declined. I believe people should help those less able and fortunate. I felt good being of assistance to her and I believe karma will repay me in the future.
As we live in the same complex, we sometimes see each other, she always gives me a sincere smile and we sometimes talk about things that are happening in the apartment and in the community.

I recently read an article on what foods to eat and avoid for a healthy body and it provided recipes for the healthy food ingredients. The article also suggested that eating better would improve my energy level, so I searched for exercise and fitness.
I found this article by scanning my search results on google. I noticed it because it was an article on outdoor exercises as opposed to a gym workout. The article outlined the advantages of outdoor exercise. For example, you will likely enjoy it more, it will save you a lot of money and you will benefit from the sun’s warming rays.
All exercise workouts start with the warm-up by stretching, squats, and pushups to warm up your muscles. The routine suggested a brisk walk and since and needed to go to the market to buy those healthy food items I had read about earlier, I grabbed my shopping bag and walked to the market. With three kilos more weight I was carrying, I returned home at a slower pace. “Climb stairs” they say. Well, my apartment is on the third floor so I had no choice. When I finally got to my place, I was winded and felt I had done enough for the first day.
I read the rest of the article and found it very interesting with other exercises and routines that I tried on other days. I believe these lifestyle changes are improving my health and well-being.

I’d like to talk about how becoming a better listener has improved my relationship with others.
Three years ago I read a book called “The Power of Positive Thinking” and one of the chapters was all about listening. The writer pointed out that many people don’t pay enough attention to what their friends or colleagues say. It made me think about myself. Once or twice some people had told me that I did not seem to be paying attention to them when we spoke together, but now they are no longer on my back about this because of the changes I made. Most importantly, I decided to try hard to focus when I was in conversation with anyone which showed them that I valued what they had to say. Following the ideas in this amazing book really helped me. Now I take the time, not just to listen to people but to try to understand them and assist them. Some self-help guides are a dime a dozen but following the advice given in this one has made me a better man.
In short, this positive change has helped me in a number of ways. Firstly, I have become more patient. Additionally, I have developed a reputation as a caring person and finally, I am able to better understand other people’s problems. I am so glad I read this book and I have recommended it to many others.

Eventually, after what felt like an eternity, I stumbled upon a hidden gem of a park tucked away amidst the towering structures. It was a tranquil oasis in the midst of chaos, offering solace and a much-needed respite. The park provided me with an opportunity to gather my thoughts, recalibrate my bearings, and regain my composure.
In hindsight, getting lost turned out to be a serendipitous adventure, offering me a glimpse into the hidden corners of Tokyo that I wouldn’t have discovered otherwise. It taught me resilience, adaptability, and the importance of embracing the unexpected.
In conclusion, the occasion when I got lost in Tokyo was a humbling experience that showcased the unpredictability of travel. It reminded me that even in the face of uncertainty, there is always room for personal growth and the discovery of hidden treasures.

I just wanted to tell you about a time when I was late for a meeting. The meeting was for a project I was working on with a team at my job. The meeting was scheduled for 9 AM on a Monday morning. The meeting was held in the conference room at my office.
I was running late because I had overslept and woke up later than I expected. I rushed to get ready and didn’t realize how much time I was losing until it was too late. I panicked and tried to hurry but ended up getting stuck in a traffic jam on the way to the office. I knew I was going to be late, but I didn’t know how late I would be.
When I arrived at the office, the meeting had already started, and I was over 20 minutes late. I apologized to my team and my manager for my tardiness. I explained that I had overslept and had trouble getting out of the house on time. My team and manager were understanding, and we were able to continue the meeting.
I felt terrible for being late and knew that it was entirely my fault. I felt guilty for letting my team down and for wasting their time. I felt embarrassed to have to explain my lateness. I really cant stand it when others are late and now I had done it!
In the end, it was a valuable lesson for me to learn. I realized the importance of time management and being punctual. I learned that oversleeping and underestimating the time it takes to get ready is not an excuse for being late. I’d like to talk about a goal I’ve had for a long time.
I’ve always liked the idea of working for myself rather than having to rely on working for someone else to make a living. I’ve always wanted to be my own boss and not have to take orders from other people. This is an ambition I’ve had for a long time but have never had enough time to do it.
Right now I have a job that I love and I would certainly not want to lose it but someday in the future that may not be the case. If that day ever comes, then what would I do I often ask myself.
So, recently I’ve thought about running my own business just as a side hobby at first to see if I liked it, but one day in the future I may decide I want to be serious about it. The type of business I would like to run would be an online business with my own website. It could also be a virtual store online with a major platform like say, Amazon.
If I chose the first option I would need to do certain things first, like learn how to build a reliable and secure website, choose a reliable host for my site and decide what it was that I wanted to sell online.
I’d like to learn many other things too like the best way to do online marketing and the best way to get a lot of traffic to my site and of course I’d have to come up with a name and logo for the company.
I wouldn’t be looking to make a windfall, not at all, just enough so that I could live comfortably. I figure it would take me about a year to a year and a half to get the business up and running. If I did decide to go ahead with my plan, I would outsource any kind of technical tasks to experts I think. Things like building the website or maximizing my search engine optimization and so on would examples of tasks I’d outsource.

Today I’d like to talk to you about a time when my iPhone 6 broke down and I nearly purchased a new one but at the last minute I decided to cool my heels, go home to think about my options. The phone was 4 years old, and I had always taken care of it. Despite this, I ended up with an issue with the touch screen.
At the time I was a university student and did not have two pennies to rub together when the screen stopped working. I had no idea why and I couldn’t check my notifications. I needed my phone so I took it to the nearby Apple store and the staff ran a quick diagnostic and then told me that the only solution was to replace the screen. He also informed me of the cost and that buying a new phone was a cheaper option.
Not to mention that spending that kind of money to fix an outdated phone was pointless so I was tempted. However, I decided that needed to take a step back just to think it through. I told the staff member I would get back to him, and on the way home I popped into the university library and used a computer there to access the internet. I searched various user forums and soon found that many others had, had the same issue. On one of the user forums, someone provided a step-by-step solution and many people had posted positive comments about how it had worked.
I followed those steps and restarted the phone as instructed and to my amazement, the problem was resolved. I was so glad that I made the decision not to rush into buying a new phone. My budget was tight and whilst I have now replaced the phone, at the time the money saved was a godsend.

I would like to tell you about the time my brother and I saved up to buy our first family car but we ended up having a huge argument. It was not easy to save that much money as my brother and I were the only two in the family with a regular income, however, after a year we were ready to hunt down a deal.
One day my brother called me at work and told me he had found what looked like a perfect car and he was off to look at it. I asked my brother to wait for me to come home before he did but he got impatient and went without me.
He was so impressed that he brought it without checking with me. I was furious with him and we had a bit of a yelling match because no matter how good the car looked; he should have at least had a qualified mechanic check it over. I felt he had been reckless with our money and disrespected me.
The very next weekend we were taking the family for a drive into the mountains. The traffic was slow, and it was very congested when I noticed the temperature light was showing red, seconds after that the car broke down with steam coming out from under the bonnet. Neither of us knew anything about auto mechanics; fortunately, we were able to contact a nearby mechanic and he rescued us with his tow truck.
After the mechanic checked our vehicle back at his workshop, he told us that the car had been in a previous accident and he could see evidence of major structural repairs around the front end plus the radiator was broken which is why it had overheated. I hit the roof and did not speak to my brother for weeks after finding out. I certainly will not trust him again with an important purchase.
Describe a time when you helped a child
You should say:
when it was
how you helped
why you helped

I’d like talk about an occasion when I was able to solve a big problem for my seven year old cousin.
Two years ago I was at my friend’s apartment where she was hosting a birthday party for her little sister, with about twenty young guests attending. My cousin was one of them. Before the party started, she was sat at the kitchen table with friends when she accidentally knocked over some tomato ketchup. Sadly, it went all over her pretty white party dress. She immediately started sobbing.
By chance, only a few days earlier I had been reading an article online about removing stains of this kind. The technique involved mixing toothpaste, vinegar and baking soda. I spread the paste over the stain and at first, it looked worse than before. However, I then put a towel on top of the dress and applied firm pressure. On lifting the towel away we were all overjoyed to see that the stain had gone completely. Rachel was so thrilled that she was able to go to the party.
My friend joked with me that I should start my own website to give people cleaning tips. As for me, I was just so pleased that I was able to get my cousin out of a hole.
In short, being able to lend a hand at that time was very rewarding and I will never forget how happy Rachel was that day. Even today she often mentions it to me and we both smile.
Describe a time when you saw a lot of plastic waste
You should say:
where you saw the plastic waste
when you saw it
what you did after you saw the waste
and explain how you felt about it.
I’d like to talk about a sea fishing boat trip I went on four years ago when I saw something that made me very upset.
We had been on the boat on the Ocean not far from the coast for about two hours when we came across a horrible sight. It was like a whole island made of plastic bags, bottles and covid masks which had all somehow been pushed together on the sea. I was so shocked when I saw this and I knew already that the plastic was not biodegradable and that it would be there in the ocean for many years to come unless people managed to do something about it.
My friend on the boat was also upset about it so he organised a large party of people to clean up this mess. It was hard work and took about week with more than a dozen boats to make a real impact in getting rid of the waste. At times the sun was very hot and it was hard work to bring that plastic onto the boats and to eventually get rid of it. I felt really alive and happy to be doing something to clean up the mess but at the same time it also made me feel dismayed that people had never nipped this problem in the bud and stopped that amount of waste from building up.
While I was very sad to see this plastic waste, it was great to be part of a team of people trying to do something about it.
In short, it was an eye-opening experience to be involved in the cleanup and I will never forget it and will also recommend to my friends that they volunteer at some time to be part of clean up,
Describe an occasion when someone gave you positive advice about your work/study
You should say:
who the person is
what the advice was
how the advice affected you
and explain how you felt about the advice.
I’d like to talk about a time when my friend gave me some amazing revision tips before my exams at school.
I had really struggled with retaining information and started to feel my brain was like a leaky bucket. I really had no idea how I was going to remember enough facts to get through the tests. My good buddy Tony did not seem worried about the exams at all and he told me it was because of a new study and memory technique that he had learned. When he shared this idea with me, I was skeptical but willing to try it.
It involved three stages. Firstly, taking detailed notes from the material to be learned. Next, writing down random words from those notes, and finally cutting it down again to just a handful of words. These few words triggered my memory of the bigger list, which brought recall of the detailed notes. I found that this way of studying really worked and it became much easier for me to learn and retain important information. There are many ideas online for improving our study efficiency and most of them are a dime a dozen but this technique worked like magic for me. When Tony first told me about it I thought he was pulling my leg but it actually changed my life.
In short, this idea is a great time saver, has helped me to improve my efficiency and eased my pre-exam anxiety. I have already recommended it to a number of friends.
Have a mock test to find out your level and how to increase it!
For IELTS Speaking, practicing with diverse topics, including fashion, can be beneficial. For instance, you might be asked to describe a clothing item, like Black leather Jackets. These jackets are not only stylish but also versatile, providing a talking point on personal style or trends, which could enhance fluency and vocabulary in your responses.
yes good idea.

It’s great that so much information that can help us all is readily available. My pupils have been reporting questions, so I’ve taken the time to draft some sample responses. This is not an approved set of questions. The questions on the actual exam will be different, and these are just for practice. Students have reported the following topics to me. These are meant merely as examples of possible questions on the exam. I’m thrilled to have found such a gem of a piece of writing. Come across Edutrainex.com and hope you can visit this too to get more information.
Dear Mike,
I wanted to express my appreciation for your dedicated website, where you generously share your highly sophisticated experiences.
As someone who has been preparing for the IELTS test, I have encountered difficulties with the speaking section. In order to address this challenge, I have developed an AI-based voice chat system called vChat (https://v-chat.app/).
I wanted to reach out to you to explore the possibility of collaborating on this project. I strongly believe that our partnership could bring great benefits to students and everyone involved.
I eagerly await your response.
Sincerely yours,
Yusuke Watanabe
