Ielts Speaking Framework for fluency

By using a framework while you’re speaking, you’ll be able to quickly organize your thoughts, rather than starting, rambling, and finishing poorly. Although there are many ways to frame up your message, here’s a simple example that you can try today: the P-R-E-S (point, reason, example, summary) model.

 

To show you exactly how to use it, let’s say you’re responding to a question or making a comment in a part of the speaking test. Use this four-step process to walk through your thoughts without losing track of your plan.

 

By using this simple four-step framework, you’ll give yourself a plan to hang your words and ideas on. You’ll have a clear beginning, middle, and end that will keep you from getting lost in your words.

Here is how you can put this to work.  You do not need an example for every instance and you could replace the example with a thought or some other point:

 

Question: How often do you use a computer?

 

Point

I use a computer all the time.

Reason

This is because I am an IT specialist and I am always using one for work.

Example

For instance, I develop (programs/websites/apps) for my customers and I am constantly striving to use advance computer technology to satisfy my client’s needs.

Summary

So, I am constantly using a computer as the main tool of my trade. (note the use of the idiom).

 

The aforementioned is designed only as a learning tool. It is not something you will be marked on in the exam.  Rather it will empower you to give controlled answers.  You can also use it to answer the part 3 questions simply by adding some sentences in the middle stages as follows:

 

Question: What are the advantages of using computer?

 

Point

There are a number of merits from using a computer.

Reason 1

It can assist us to work much more efficiently and productively.

Example 1

For instance, communication through email is much more efficient than by writing letters because the turnaround time between messages is much shorter, and therefore medication is enhanced.

Reason 2

computers also allow us to keep in touch with people effectively.

Example 1

For example we can use social media to let our friends and family know up-to-the-minute information about what we’re doing and where we have been going.

Summary

So, computers allow us to work and communicate more effectively and efficiently.
