IELTS INDICATOR TEST

IELTS Indicator test

I am going to cover what this brand new test is, why we have it, whether you should take it, how to book for this test. How to take the test.

What is IELTS Indicator?

IELTS Indicator is an online test that can be taken from the comfort and safety of your home. The test includes four skills – Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking, and you will receive an indicative score for each. Your performance will be marked by IELTS examiners and you will receive your result within seven days.

Why we have it

COVID-19 has led to thesuspension of tests in many countries and this is causing issues for university enrolments. IDP and BC are also losing a lot of money due to not running tests. IDP shares are down about 40% this year!

Take this test if you meet the two following condition

1 No regular tests are being held in your country
2 If you want to go overseas to study in the next few months
3 If you are taking the Academic test…this is NOT for the general test

Booking

Bookings will open for IELTS Indicator on 22 April 2020.
Tests will run once a week.

Cost
I don’t know and it will likely vary according to country.

Results
You will receive your results within seven days of completing all sections of the test.

How will I know if my university or college is happy to use the indicative scores?

As IELTS Indicator does not replace an in-person IELTS test at a test centre, it is not accepted by all organisations. We recommend that you check with your university or education provider before you book.

Test requirements

  1. A quiet and comfortable space to take your test
  2. A computer (you cannot take IELTS Indicator on a mobile or tablet device)
  3. A stable internet connection

  5. Speakers or headphones connected to your computer (for audio during your Listening test)

Availability for the full duration of the Listening, Reading and Writing test – approximately 2 hours 45 minutes. These sections of the test need to be completed in one sitting; you cannot pause and come back later. Your Speaking test will be conducted separately.

  1. Pretty much the same as how you usually prepare for your test.
  2. Practice on a computer…as you will be taking your test on a computer.
  3. Use the Cambridge books of past test papers to prepare for reading and listening
