Guess why this person failed their IELTS writing test!

The task:

Advertising discourages people from being different individuals by making us want to be and to look the same.
To what extent do you agree or disagree?

The student writes as follows:
Now “advertising” does not only mean the process of T.V. commercials, I interpreted it as show off and tendency to tell.

The teacher replies
You are interpreting it too widely…do not try to be “clever” there are zero marks for this. Instead, take a risk-free approach and rephrase this to promotions/marketing

The student writes as follows:
My paraphrase was “Pretentiousness, show off, and tendency to tell sabotage us from evolving different by making us succumb to be doppelgangers and same career wise also. I am in full favor to this notion.

 The teacher replies
Sorry, but to put his politely, all the underlined words are absolute garbage and you have absolutely destroyed your score for task response [off-topic] cohesion and coherence [this makes no sense], and vocabulary [the words you are using are unrelated to the topic and have no clear meaning].
